At Indy Reads Books we are committed to promoting the art and culture of our Indianapolis community. Art is a universal language and exhibiting work in our store allows us to reach audiences regardless of age, education, language, or background. Our goal is to support community artists and generate thought-provoking discussion.
We host Artist Conversations with each new exhibition. Join us for these free events where the artist has a chance to tell their story and discuss their work. Check our calendar regularly for dates and times.
View the work in our gallery and let the conversation begin!
What kind of art do you show?
At IRB we like to exhibit fine art that inspires creativity and conversation. We show established and emerging artists from the Indianapolis area. Sometimes this work is abstract, sometimes realistic, sometimes experimental. Having content that starts a conversation is the most important element to any work we show.
How are artists selected?
When selecting artists to exhibit, we look for artworks that display merit, relevance, and interesting content. We also look for works with the potential to open dialogue about art, ideas, and the world.
Can I exhibit my work in the store?
Our exhibition space is typically booked months in advance. While not a traditional gallery, we intentionally choose high quality work. If you have an idea for an exhibition, please contact Victoria Haley-Brown. You should send her 3-5 images of your work, an artist statement, exhibition history, and a little information about yourself. You can send this to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Does IRB get a sales commission?
Yes. We receive a small commission on any art sale which goes directly to funding our adult literacy program, Indy Reads. The rest goes back to the artists who we hope will use it to keep creating great work!
